Best Places to Watch the Super Bowl in Philadelphia

There are cities to watch football, then there is Philadelphia and of course the beloved Eagles. Some cities have football teams that once their team is out of the playoff hunt you don’t hear a peep from their fans, not the Eagles fan’s. They’ll still come out, watch football and just hate whoever the winner is, because that’s just what Philly does. One thing to remember, if you’re not with a large group of friends (that have your back) leave the Dallas Cowboys gear at home!

Many other teams and cities have very passionate fans, and will cheer beyond and back. Philadelphians though are on a whole different level of passion and care, just look at the back in 2017 at the NFL Draft at how many thousands of people came to be part of something special. True to Philadelphia fashion, it was the largest attended draft in history with over 250,000 fans in attendance.

Philadelphia has been lucky enough to experience their first Super Bowl win during the franchise’s historic run in 2018. That evening might be a little bit different than your traditional Super Bowl weekend party afterward. Philadelphia again showed why they have the most passionate fans. Lining Broad St. with tens of thousands of people in a celebration Philly has never seen before. Whether the Eagles are in it or not, Philadelphia invites you to the most passionate city in the world to come and watch the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl Pools?

The Super Bowl has many traditions, wings and beer, chips and dips, and of course one of our favorites, the Super Bowl Pool. Some people take the Super Bowl poor rather serious and some people for big money. But the majority of pools come from the office, or a group of friends just looking to have some fun and keep the game interesting all the way through.

Gambling on sports has become almost as popular if not more popular as the sports themselves. The American Gaming Association estimated that 1 in 10 Americans would place a Super Bowl bet this year, and that a total of nearly $6 billion would be wagered. Some bets would be placed through illegal bookies or offshore online betting sites, and millions through contests like a casual game of squares whether with friends or colleagues.

Some football pools can get quite serious though, and can end in disaster. Looking back at the 2019 Super Bowl between the Rams and Patriots, one office pool got as large as $375,000, this isn’t your average $10 to $20 per square bet, this was more like a $5,000 per square bet. Unfortunately the money went missing during the game.

Some have absolutely no idea how to play a Super Bowl Pool, below we’ll show you a quick guide of how to play.

To start, Super Bowl pools are absolutely a game of luck, especially when getting your numbers randomly chosen for you. If they’re not randomly chosen you have a little better of a shot. There might be some better numbers that have come out a few more times than others, but overall it’s all about luck.

The basic premise is very simple, there is a 10 x 10 numbered grid to which each person has paid into. The numbers begin from 0 through 9 each on the X and Y axis (labeled by the team), after each quarter whoever has the 3 on the Patriots (X) side and a 0 on the Rams (Y) wins whatever the prize might be. Most payouts are done each quarter with the majority of pools having the largest prize for the final quarter of the game.

As we stated earlier, pools are a game of chance, but as we look back there are a few scenarios that do come out a bit more often than all the others. Some statistics from the 2017 Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons, well start with the 0-0 box is statistically the odds-on favorite. It has hit 16 times, the most of any single number combination. Obviously that doesn’t mean that is the only thing going to come out. It was a low scoring game, 0-0 makes sense. Although 0-0 might be the single-box record holder, the best combination of pairs would be 7-0. It has come out almost even for both NFC and AFC teams, 12 times (AFC 7, NFC 0) and 7 times (NFC 7, AFC 0). Much ado about nothing? Maybe, but 0 is also the best common denominator of sorts. There have been 200 quarters played over 50 Super Bowls, which means 200 possible numbers on each side (and 400 total); AFC 0 has come out a league-high 57 times, NFC 0 has hit a league-high 51 times, and together, that’s a current record of 108 instances of nothing.
